Sometimes, all it takes is one session to stop overeating in its track.
Are you sober and struggling with overeating, weight gain, and compulsion with food?
When we’re overeating addictively, our minds are like a runaway train. It can feel impossible to shift the momentum away from food, eating, and dieting. The obsession becomes all-consuming.
Schedule a coaching session, and let’s shift the momentum.
What happens in S&H Coaching?
We’ll discuss your goals and create a plan of eating to achieve them.
We’ll resolve emotional issues that keep you stuck in compulsive eating.
We’ll talk about the ways alcoholism and food compulsion intersect, and how to stop overeating in sobriety.
It’s like talking through all your fears and frustration about overeating with a sober friend who actually has the tools to help you solve it.
Is S&H Coaching right for you?
S&H coaching sessions are open to anyone who feels that their eating is compulsive or addictive. Coaching sessions are not limited to those that are sober from previous alcoholism or drug addiction. That said, I specialize in addiction transfer to food - i.e. those who are sober from drugs and alcohol, and who feel like their addiction “jumped” to food.
The session is a 55-minute 1:1 Zoom call with me. It’s private and confidential. You’ll leave the session with a detailed plan of action to stop overeating and lose weight, tailored to your individual goals and nutrition needs. You’ll also be emailed options to schedule additional sessions if desired, but there is no expectation of future sessions.
I promise to give 100% of my attention, expertise, and care to your individual session. I guarantee that you’ll leave with a plan of eating uniquely tailored to your goals (I give you very clear guidance on how to eat non-addictively, but we build from the ground up in session) and a clear path on next steps to take to overcome your biggest pain points in adherence to that plan. If you come with desire to change, open-mindedness, and willingness, you’ll leave with structure, tools, and a new approach to what, for many of us, has been an almost lifelong problem.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Will this program work for me if I'm not "sober"?
A: If you characterize your eating as "compulsive" or "addictive", then this is definitely a solution worth exploring. However, I can't coach on alcohol consumption, meaning you would have to be willing to stop drinking completely even if you are able to take alcohol non-problematically now. If you're not sure, schedule a 20-minute exploratory call first (click CONTACT) on the top menu bar.
Q: Is this program like O.A.?
A: I’m a HUGE fan of the 12 steps (I’m still active in AA) and I deeply admire OA and know that it works for a lot of people. My program respects OA/12-step recovery, but no, it’s not like OA.
It’s private weight loss coaching to solve overeating and get to your goal.
It’s for folks who have already experienced the spiritual awakening of stepwork and sobriety, and feel like there’s a “missing piece” with the food struggle. A critical piece, but one that lies between a full 12-step program for food and another diet.
Q: What will I eat?
A: You’ll be guided step by step through what constitutes a healthful plan of eating for you. This culminates in a weekly Food Map; each week, your meals will be planned in advance accompanied by a simple grocery list. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all template; this is a structure where you and a nutritionist fill in the blanks to create a pattern of eating that’s delicious, sustainable, and gives you great results.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Your session costs $125. We'll discuss options to continue, but that's completely up to you.
I got sober in 2001, but struggled for decades on the weight rollercoaster in sobriety. I found a solution through combining principles of sobriety, nutrition, and teaching techniques into a simple, tangible program. I started using these techniques on my own food struggle in 2015, and have maintained a 50-pound weight loss since then. I founded Sober&Hungry in 2018 and since then have coached over a hundred sober clients through this curriculum – many have lost over 50 pounds themselves.
Even in my darkest days of overeating, I knew there was a solution – one that didn’t limit me to only places where problem foods wouldn’t be served, or that would require super-human strength or endurance, or reinforce black-and-white thinking or abstinence models with food.
I now live happily as a “food-sober” recovered person. It’s powerful, peaceful, and it works in all situations. The right nutrition and the right mental perspective are the tools to permanent food freedom for those of us who struggle with compulsive or addictive eating.
This solution is just the right tools for the job – and that makes all the difference. I can’t wait to walk you through this curriculum, so you can enjoy true freedom from obsession with food – and unlock the final piece of the sobriety puzzle!
